Note: IIM Jammu has announced the 15%+15% split but has not yet released the exact sub-formula for how marks are converted. This calculator uses the most standard and logical interpretation — direct proportional mapping — the same method used by IIMs for other academic weightage programmes.
targetComposite = Each category's 2025 cutoff converted to the new 100-point composite system, then +5% safety buffer applied.
Every category uses its own benchmark — General uses 304, EWS uses 247, and so on.
How We Derived Each Category's Benchmark
1
Last year's cutoffs were pure JIPMAT scores (zero academic weightage) — General: 304, EWS: 247, NC-OBC: 235, SC: 191, ST: 136, PwD: 152.
2025 data
2
Convert each cutoff into the new 70% JIPMAT component: (Cutoff ÷ 400) × 70 → e.g. General: (304÷400)×70 = 53.2 pts
JIPMAT pts
3
Assume an average academic scorer (75% in both boards) as the baseline candidate sitting right at each category's cutoff.
75% baseline
4
Academic contribution at 75%: (0.75×15) + (0.75×15) = 22.5 points
22.5 pts
5
Category composite = JIPMAT pts + 22.5. Then add 5% safety buffer to guard against rising competition and formula uncertainty.

The Most Important Insight for 2026
Every 10% higher in boards saves ~8 marks on JIPMAT — this is now the single biggest lever a student can pull.
For General category: A 60/60 student needs ~349/400. A 90/90 student needs only ~297/400 — that's 52 marks of cushion from academics alone.
For SC/ST/PwD: The base cutoffs are lower, so academic marks matter even more as a percentage of your total composite. A 90/90 ST student may need as little as ~130/400 on JIPMAT — a highly achievable target.
